Privacy Policy

SpeakTigrinya (“we”, “us”, “the app”), operated by Lomi Solutions, respects your privacy. This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
Account Information. When you create an account using Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, or email, we collect your name and email address to identify your account and manage your subscription. You can also use the app anonymously without creating an account.
Voice Input. When you use voice dictation in Tigrinya, your audio is sent to our servers to convert speech to text. Audio recordings are processed and discarded immediately. They are not stored.
Translation Queries. Translation is optional and only happens when you actively choose to translate something. When you do, the specific text you selected is sent to Google Translate solely to return the translation to you. We do not retain a copy of the text or the translation, and we never send anything to Google except the text you explicitly ask to translate. Google’s handling of that text is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not use your translation text to train models, for advertising, or for any purpose other than returning your translation.
Learning Progress. If you create an account, we save your practice progress (such as completed lessons, practice streaks, scores, your chosen skill level, and writing practice) so it stays in sync across your devices and is not lost if you reinstall. If you use the app anonymously, this progress stays on your device only.
Saved Transcripts. For Premium accounts, the app can keep a short history of your recent voice-to-text results so you can revisit them. This stores the transcribed text only (never the audio), and you can turn it off or clear it at any time from the app.
Usage Information. We track daily counts of voice transcriptions to enforce free-tier limits and prevent abuse, and we generate a random device identifier for the same purpose. We do not track which features you use, how long you use the app, or your location.
Crash and Diagnostic Data. To keep the app stable, we use Google Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and performance diagnostics (such as the type of crash, your device model, and OS version). This data is used only to find and fix bugs. It is not linked to your identity and is never used for advertising or profiling.
Keyboard. The SpeakTigrinya keyboard does not collect, store, or send any keystrokes. What you type stays on your device. Full Access is used only to enable the optional voice dictation and inline translation features inside the keyboard (both of which need a network connection); typing itself never requires it.
Script Conversion. The Ge’ez ↔ Latin script transliteration tool runs entirely on your device. We never see what you convert.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide voice transcription and translation services
- To manage your account and subscription
- To enforce daily usage limits on the free tier and prevent abuse
- To respond to your support requests
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. We do not use your voice recordings, transcripts, or translation text to train artificial-intelligence models, and we do not build advertising or behavioral profiles about you.
Who We Share Data With
We use trusted third-party services to operate the app:
- Cloud hosting infrastructure runs our Tigrinya speech-to-text model and the backend services that process voice transcription and sync your account data.
- Authentication & database (Google Firebase) manages your account credentials when you sign in with Apple, Google, or email, and securely stores your account information (account ID, email, subscription tier), learning progress, and any saved transcripts.
- Sign-in providers (Apple, Google) handle the sign-in flow when you choose those options.
- Payment processor (Apple, RevenueCat) handles subscriptions and entitlement tracking. We never see your payment details.
- Translation service (Google Translate) processes text you choose to translate, only when you actively request a translation. See the “Translation Queries” section above.
- Crash and diagnostics (Google Firebase Crashlytics) collects crash reports and performance data to help us fix bugs and keep the app stable.
- English speech recognition (Apple SFSpeech) converts your spoken English into text on device. Tigrinya speech is sent to our own servers (above) instead.
We require each of these providers, by contract, to protect your information to a standard at least equivalent to this policy and to use it only to provide their service to us. We do not share your data with any other third parties, and we do not sell it.
Data Retention and Deletion
- Voice recordings are not stored. They are processed and discarded immediately.
- Account information (email, display name, subscription tier, daily usage counts), learning progress, and any saved transcripts are retained while your account is active.
- Saved transcripts are limited to your most recent results; older ones are automatically removed. You can disable or clear them at any time.
- You can delete your entire account at any time from the Account screen in the app. When you delete your account, all associated data, including your learning progress and saved transcripts, is permanently removed from our servers.
Your Choices
- Use anonymously. You can use the app without creating an account, with lower daily limits.
- Delete your account. Remove your account and all associated data from the Account screen at any time.
- Keyboard privacy. You can use the keyboard without granting Full Access. Voice dictation and inline translation will be unavailable from inside the keyboard, but typing works normally.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live (for example, the EU, the UK, or California), you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to access it, correct it, export it, or have it deleted, and the right to object to or restrict certain processing. We do not sell your personal information.
You can delete your account and all associated data yourself from the Account screen at any time. For any other request, email us at support@lomisolutions.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.
International Users
We are based in the United States, and our service providers process and store data on servers located in the United States. If you use SpeakTigrinya from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States.
Security
We protect your data with TLS encryption in transit, secure authentication, and certificate pinning on our API connections. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
SpeakTigrinya is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy occasionally. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app. Your continued use of SpeakTigrinya after changes means you accept the updated policy.
